Derek Everitt

Civil Designer

With a strong background in computer science and a love for CAD programs, Derek Everitt found his way into civil engineering through a passion for problem-solving and design efficiency. After graduating from Texas A&M University-Commerce, he channeled his technical skills into a career focused on improving systems, streamlining processes, and mentoring others in design software.

As Senior CAD Designer and CAD Manager at Urban Strategy, Derek is known for his depth of knowledge, self-taught problem-solving approach, and dedication to building the company’s Civil 3D standards from the ground up. One of his proudest moments was seeing his first solo project move into construction—proof that great design and perseverance go hand in hand.

Derek especially enjoyed working on Hall Park in Frisco, one of his most complex projects to date, where he gained insight into adapting company standards for maximum efficiency. While he’s not often client-facing, he hopes his work reflects his commitment to responsiveness, trust, and thoughtful design.

When he’s not managing CAD workflows or helping a teammate troubleshoot, Derek brings humor and heart to the team—qualities he values just as much as his technical skills. And while he jokes that the chocolate milk at office parties is a top perk, it’s the supportive, collaborative culture at Urban Strategy that keeps him inspired.
